What is a "weblog" defined as? What if I have multiple "Weblogs" in Movable Type all used to create 1 site?

The question of what a "weblog" is is somewhat muddy, but the basic answer to the first question is that, if you're using multiple "Weblogs" in Movable Type in order to build 1 site, that only counts as 1 weblog towards the license limits.

In our licenses, we now address this with this language: "Weblog" means a single Web site viewable at a single URL (Uniform Resource Locator), consisting of one or more weblogs as generated by the Software via the "Create New Weblog" function of the Software.

To be clear, sub-weblogs that make up weblog sites shouldn't be counted toward your weblog total.

とあります。いきなり "muddy"（あいまいな、はっきりしない）と書いてあるのにはちょっと笑えます。それはともかく……。

「1サイトを作るのにマルチプル Weblog を使った場合は、1個と数える」とあります。「"Weblog" とはひとつの URL で見られるひとつのサイトを言う」ともあります。では、ウェブログ設定で Local Site Path に記載するディレクトリが異なる weblog を作った場合、URL は異なったものになりますから、これは複数個として数えるのでしょうか？
と思いきや続けて（consisting of one or more weblogs ... のところ）、「"Create New Weblog" で作られるひとつまたはそれ以上の weblog から構成されるひとつの URL のサイトのことだ」と言っています。
なんだかいまひとつよくわかりません。

で、これでもわかりにくいと彼らも思ったのでしょう。続けて“実例”が書かれていました。

う〜ん。つまりメインの weblog 以外に、リンクリストや音楽リスト、本のリストが別個の weblog として存在し、それらがひとつのサイトを形作っている……。やっぱりまだイメージがはっきりしません。リンクリストの類はいわゆるサイドバーのところに静的なコンテンツとして記載されている、というのが一般的な web site なのではないか、と思うのですが。
前にも書きましたが、メインのサイト以外に、かなりデザインの違うたとえば Photolog のようなものを運営している、という場合はどうなんでしょう？　それがメインの weblog を補う（補助的な）ものとして---写真の投稿だけを請け負うみたいに---存在している場合、メインとは完全に独立させている場合、でも違ってくるような気もしますが。
the movabletype.org のサイトが3つの weblog からなっている、とも書いてありますのであらためて見に行ってきたんですけど、いまひとつイメージがつかめません。

いずれにせよ、制限が厳しいという印象を少しでも緩和する方向性ではあるようですが、僕にとってはどうも"we hope this clarifies it" というのは叶いませんでした。

といったことも書かれています。 stiffle とは stifle（... の息を止める、... を抑圧する）だと思うんですが、「創造性を抑圧するような意図はない」と書かれていて、かなりユーザーの反発を気にしている様子が伺えますね。
ただここに「ペナルティを課す」という言葉（penalize）があるのは、そうはしませんよ、という文面であってもまたよけいな軋轢を呼ぶような気もするのですが……。

とにかく、 weblog 数の制限への反発はかなり応えたようで、

と早速それぞれ増やされていました。まとめると

ただ、依然として Developer Version の制限は変わっていないようで、それがとても残念ではあります。
唯一フリーである Developer Version に変更がないと、結局このネガティブな反応はおさまらないような気もします。

とにかく日本語版の公開と、それにあたってライセンスがらみのことがもっとクリアに理解できる説明をしてほしいと願うのみです。
